I really dont think having a beer or 2 with your meal is a bad thing, and when you get out of this area, it is very common. When you have a beer or 10 AS YOUR MEAL, thats when you run into trouble.
I think I agree with you ut, it is pretty much a personal thing. If you want to drink a beer, I have absolutely no problem with it, but when people want to drink a case of beer and raise hell and attempt to get on the road, thats when it becomes a major issue with me.
Thing about wine back then was that it was fermented to keep it from "spoiling". Fermented wine was used for many reasons back then, a preservative, antiseptic, everyday drink, etc...it wasn't used for the sole purpose of intoxication as it is today for the most part.

Yeah, having been the victim of a "drunk-driver", (1 week in the hospital, 8 weeks off work) I have a very low tolerance for people who drink and drive. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

He shot a man while under the influnce of alcohol. This isn't any different than driving the car to the 2 beer lunch and hitting someone. He should be up for manslaughter, this is our "moral" leadership? he should be volunteering to be tried.

He should have been tested for his alcohol level, and then if any shows he should be tried the same way. Any fool knows guns and drinking don't mix. But the saints go marching in....
